Recipe for dried figs
Ingredients:
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 1/4 cups warm water (110°F/43°C)
- 3 tablespoons olive oil (plus extra for drizzling)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup deliciomo dried figs, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, finely chopped
- Coarse sea salt for sprinkling
Instructions:
- Put the warm water into a small bowl, and add sugar and yeast in it. Let it ferment(suddenly become frothy) after 5-10 minutes
- Using a large mixing bowl, stir the whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour and salt to form a homogenous mixture.
- Create a hole in the middle of dried up elements and set yeast mix, as well as olfactory sense plant life.
- To knead the dough, place it on a board or in your hands that is floured and then most important beat the dough for at least 5-7 minutes or until it becomes smooth.
- Put the dough in a bowl lightly coated with oil, cover it up with a moist cloth, and let the dough get raised onto double in size by leave it for almost 1-2 hours at warm space.
- Set your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit (approximately 220 degrees Celsius).
- Sponge will double in size, then punch dough down on a prepared baking pan. Then press and roll into a rectangle-shape.
- After spreading the dough into a pizza shape, drizzle olive oil all over and evenly spread the chopped dried figs and rosemary.
- Leave in for about 25-27 minutes.
- Before it is baked into crackling crisps, use your fingers to create dimples in the dough.
- Cover the outer edges with coarse sea salt.
- Bake for 20 – 25 minutes or until the focaccia becomes golden-brown in a preheated oven.
- Let the focaccia sit for a couple of minutes and then cut them in desired shapes and serve.
